The exhibition Sketches for a Universe consists of two parts, a site specific installation and a kaleidoscope machine.
In the first room rods and balls of different dimensions are placed in a seemingly random order. From one point in space they start coming together to a distinct pattern.
Mixed media including plastic pipes, flock and string. Room 4,5 x 6,80 x 3,10 meters.
Fuse pearls. 20 x 20 cm. – Digitally altered drawing. Digital print. 17 x 30 cm. – 3D computer model of installation. Digital print. 45 x 32 cm
In the second room a machine pulls a translucent plastic film up and down behind angled mirrors resulting in a slow expanding motion and then a quicker contracting one.
Standing close to the machine and looking down into the corner of the mirrors creates the illusion of watching a 3,5 meter big luminous hexagon.
Mixed media including construction steel, cycle chain, motor, motion detector and plastic, 220 x 200 x 110 cm.
